What attracted you to apply for a role at Wire Belt?
During my time at Sittingbourne Community College, I got in contact with the Head of Careers who recommended Wire Belt as a good company to work for in the local area. At the time, Wire Belt were hiring for a Business Administration Apprentice. With the help of Sittingbourne Community College (now known as The Sittingbourne School), I prepared for the interview, and it resulted in me getting the job!
Could you give a brief overview of your career journey so far?
I started my career journey working part-time at the local Chip Shop whilst I completed my education. From there, I’ve joined Wire Belt, and I have worked in a variety of roles during my time here. After completing my initial Apprenticeship, I moved into an Order Processing role, followed by transitioning into my current role as Export & Import Co-ordinator.
When you joined Wire Belt, how were you welcomed into the company?
I received a warm welcome from everybody at Wire Belt. It allowed me to feel comfortable from the moment I joined the company.
Describe working at Wire Belt in 3 words?
Challenging, Rewarding, Enjoyable.
Is there a particular memory at Wire Belt that stands out to you?
Some of my fondest memories at Wire Belt are from the Company Events that I have attended over the years. They are a great opportunity to be able to let your hair down and socialise with Colleagues in a less formal environment!
What would you say the best thing about Wire Belt is?
The People.
Would you say Wire Belt has a good work-life balance?
Yes! I’m able to switch off as soon as the clock strikes 17:00. This allows me to enjoy my evenings and weekends, stress-free.
How have Wire Belt thought about your career progression?
Wire Belt have thought about my career progression extensively. As I said, I’ve gone from an Apprentice to a Co-ordinator. On top of this, I am now also receiving Team Leader Training, which will give me the ability to develop my skills and potential even further!
Do you feel the company lives by their Mission Vision and Values?
Yes, for sure!
Do we have any policies that have specifically helped you?
The family friendly Policies the company have in place have been a massive help to me. Recently, I have got a new puppy, so adjusting my hours ever-so-slightly to be able to care for him is a huge weight off my shoulders!
Is there anything else you’d like to discuss?
One thing I would like to say is just how much working at Wire Belt has enabled me to come out of my shell! When I left Sixth Form, I was very shy and quiet. Over the years, I have gradually become more confident, and I now communicate with Customers all around the globe on a daily basis!
