What attracted you to apply for a role at Wire Belt?

Upon leaving University, I was looking for my first role in marketing, ideally one in which I could receive the necessary training to be able to develop into the best version of myself possible. Upon doing some research into Wire Belt,  I could tell that this would be a good fit for me. Their commitment into developing apprentices and young people was clear to see, something I could not identify with numerous other companies in the area.

What led you to Wire Belt?

I found the job listing for my role on Indeed. I was using this website as I wanted to stay local to my home in Medway, whilst finding a role which would suit my specific needs as a recent graduate.

Could you give a brief overview of your career journey so far?

I recently graduated from the University of Northampton, after studying Advertising & Digital Marketing. After an enjoyable time at university, I was ready to make the leap and start my career in marketing! I spent a few years working at Tesco in this time as well, giving me first-hand experience dealing with a wide-variety of people and problem-solving, skills which proved to be invaluable!

When you joined Wire Belt, how were you welcomed into the company?

Upon arriving at Wire Belt, I had only worked in a retail role, so I was not too sure what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised about how welcoming everyone was, and the interest they took in my journey so far! I am delighted with the relationships I have built with everyone here. Long may it continue!

How have Wire Belt helped develop you in your role throughout your time here?

Since joining Wire Belt, I have received lots of guidance and training around my role. Although I attended university, nothing quite replicates working in a real-life environment. On top of the training in my own role, I have been allowed to spend time with colleagues in other departments, so I can develop an understanding of all aspects of the business!

Is there a particular memory at Wire Belt that stands out to you?

Although I have only joined the company not so long ago, I have made numerous memories since joining the company. One memory in particular that sticks out was my participation in our trip to local school Westlands, for their Careers Fair! It was amazing to be invited down and try to inspire the next generation of future engineers!

What would you say the best thing about Wire Belt is?

In my opinion, I would say the culture. From my experience, Wire Belt are always thinking about their employees, creating a happy work environment and will always go the extra mile to help with anything.

Do we have any policies that have specifically helped you?

Unfortunately, there have been numerous rail strikes in recent months, making it difficult for me to get to work. Thankfully, the friendly Policies the company have allowed me to be able to fulfil my responsibilities at home on these days, taking a huge weight off my shoulders regarding travel!

What changes have you seen since working at Wire Belt?

Although I have only been at the company for a few months, I have already noticed a lot of positive change since joining. The factory and offices have recently been refurbished, giving all employees a lovely environment to work in. On top of this, digital signage has been introduced around the business, allowing key messages and information to be portrayed to staff in an efficient manner.

Would you say Wire Belt has a good work-life balance?

I would definitely say that Wire Belt has a good work-life balance. Our holiday allowance is significantly higher than the statutory minimum required. Also, you get birthday leave after a years’ service, which allows you to celebrate with friends and family on your special day, without worrying about holiday! As well as this, we get to finish 1hr 45mins early one day a week in the office. My early day is on a Friday which allows me to go to the pub in the early evening with my family, something I wouldn’t get to do with a 5pm finish!

Have Wire Belt thought about your career progression?

Career development has been mentioned consistently throughout my time at Wire Belt. I have numerous courses coming up to assist me in areas such as Adobe Software, which will help me be able to create a variety of content for Wire Belt!

Would you have any advice to others who are thinking about joining Wire Belt?

My advice to anyone wanting to join Wire Belt is to build up good relationships with your colleagues and just believe in yourself! The belief from your colleagues and the company will be there, so if you believe in what you can bring to the team, then you will be sure to fit in the Wire Belt family.
