What led you to Wire Belt?

Upon leaving school, I was searching for an engineering apprenticeship on various job sites and came across the Welder/Fabricator Apprenticeship here at Wire Belt. I have been here ever since.

Could you give a brief overview of your career journey so far?

I started at Wire Belt as a Welder/Fabricator Apprentice and have now completed my Level 2 (Performing Engineering Operations) Apprenticeship in Welding.  I am now a fully qualified Welder/Fabricator which enables me to weld and fully assemble conveyors, as well as any other welding tasks I can assist with.

When you joined Wire Belt, how were you welcomed into the company?

When I came in for my induction week for my Apprenticeship, everyone was very welcoming and friendly. I felt no pressure at all. As someone who is quite shy, everyone has made me feel extremely relaxed throughout my time at Wire Belt and have always treated me in a respectful manner.

How have Wire Belt helped develop you in your role throughout your time here?

Wire Belt have been patient with my development during my time here. The company have never put me under any pressure if I make a mistake and have allowed me to develop at a pace that helps me perform to the best of my abilities. The company are now also enrolling me on a Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Course, which will allow me to obtain another qualification within a different sector of engineering.

Describe working at Wire Belt in 3 words?

Different. Interesting. Fun

Is there any particular memories at Wire Belt that stick out to you?

My main Wire Belt memory still has to be opening the e-mail to see that I had been offered my Apprenticeship. It was such a proud moment for me and my family.

What would you say the best thing about Wire Belt is?

The working hours are really convenient for me, and the opportunity to be able to work overtime to earn some extra money is also extremely helpful.

Would you say Wire Belt has a good work-life balance?

Definitely.  The working hours are amazing, allowing us to have an earlier finish on Friday. It makes the weekend feel a whole lot longer!

Would you have any advice to others who are thinking about joining Wire Belt?

The advice I would give is not to be too anxious about meeting new people, as well as the workload. When I joined, everyone who works in my department was very helpful in assisting me wherever possible so settling in was a stress-free experience.

Is there anything else you’d like to talk about that we haven’t discussed about your time here?

The company will allow you to flourish, providing all that you need in order to further your knowledge, as well as keeping you happy within your role.
