Overall Objective

  • Contribute to the profitable manufacture of WBCL conveyor products and accessories to customer requirements by efficiently providing technical documentation and support in liaison with both Technical Sales and Conveyor Manufacturing staff as required.
  • In the creation, reconfiguration and maintenance of CAD drawings, designs and technical records for conveyor configuration systems – improve conveyor quality and reduce costs by following and contributing to the enhancement of company systems, conveyor designs and drawing office processes.
  • Capable of programming in various software languages such as iLogic, ladder, structured text and other PLC styles.
  • Contribute to the ongoing automation of drawings and processes within the Technical Department on a project basis as required.
  • Commissioning of Conveyor Control Systems including drives and safety circuits.
  • Back up support for Systems Engineer, to cover breakdowns and upgrades on production machines, Robots, and Automation projects.

Main Roles & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve configurators that produce CAD models, drawings, and BOM’s required by the company procedures for conveyor and accessory projects.
  • Develop and improve conveyor configurators and technical office processes in coordination with the Conveyor Team.
  • Working with the technical team, develope automation projects, including vision inspection, Robotics, and machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program configurator to produce drawings for conveyors and accessories.
    • Maintain drawing records and technical details for conveyors.
    • Modify or reconfigure drawings in compliance with company systems and quality procedures.
    • Produce conveyor data (specification) sheets and manage pre and post customer approval.
    • Issue drawing sets and BOM as required.
    • Assist in the design, development and application of basic conveyor control systems.
    • Hold pre & post manufacture technical meetings as required by company CP’s and keep records.
    • Liaise and provide technical support to sales, purchasing and manufacturing teams.
    • Project manage conveyor systems through the company processes.
    • Monitor projects and contribute to planning to achieve ‘on time and on budget’.
    • Ensure that Machine Safety and hygienic design requirements are met (CE and UKCA approval).
  • Program Configurator with new conveyor systems and accessories.
    • When authorised – Program configurator for new conveyor variants and accessories to an agreed schedule.
  • Technical support for conveyors & accessories.
    • Be a point of contact for internal technical queries related to the configurator.
    • Produce relevant material for conveyor manuals and ‘Technical Files’ as required.
  • Commissioning Conveyor Control Systems.
    • Program and develop controls and drive systems for conveyors.
  • Back up support for Systems and Project Engineer.
    • To cover/assist with breakdowns and upgrades on production machinery. Program Robots, vision inspection, and PLC’s.

Education/Qualifications/Experience

  • A degree/HNC in engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3D CAD user (2 years experience desirable).
  • Proficient user of Autodesk Vault data management tool.
  • Good automation, engineering knowledge.
  • Experience of iLogic, Cloud/WEB based configurators.
  • PLC, Robotics, and vision inspection programming.
